“What creationists believe about human origins we get from the Bible,” said David Menton an acclaimed anatomist and also a creationist. “The creation of the world takes place on page one of the Bible. If you throw out the first page of the Bible you might as well throw out the whole thing. If you can’t live with the first page then pitch out the remaining thousand pages.”

These poor people try to read the bible as a factual report. Unfortunately, not only biology disagrees with the bible. So does about every other science. Think of god creating sun and moon (both referred to as “lights”, despite their obvious difference) after the earth is already in place. In the old testament, earth is thought of as flat. Even in the middle ages people knew better. There is just no way around the fact that the old testament is the work of a primitive culture. After thousands of years, you might think everyone would know better. If only.

“Evolution is not politically correct, so of the very broad range of potential sexual behaviour, there is actually only one that is consistently associated with better physical and mental health and that is the one sexual behaviour that would be favoured by evolution. That is not accidental.”

That’s what a psychologist said who released a study, suggesting that safer sex is bad for your mental health.

Does that make sense? Could evolution work that way?

Of course not. Let’s think about it: What can be derived from evolution theory? “Survival of the fittest”, or something like that. In other words: People who like to have sex are likely to have more offspring and therefore have a greater chance to survive. That explains why nature loves sex. Let’s go to safer sex. People who like to have sex can have it now with a very low “risk” of pregnancy. I say “now”, although “condoms” (think of Casanova) have been around for quite some time now. But virtually no one used them and they were everything but safe until recently. They can’t have played any significant role in our evolution. What about other ways of “preventing” pregnancy? Well, you can pull it out before you shoot the load, but that isn’t really safe, either.
